May 2008: Less than six weeks now: I'm driving these images out to Eugene as a part of a 15 year desire to drive across US via a northern route - been lots in the south. Every year gas gets more and more expensive, so I'm going now and making it a 2 for 1 trip.

Pictures are about done as are the info chunks - one goes with each image and in most cases is at least loosly relevant to the image. Implements became a bit tricky - I believe some sponcership issues developed with the manufacturer/suppliers and the 'official supplier'- but my supplier, MF Athletic, has come through like they promised two years ago. - Thanks HT.

Now we're down to available space at 5th Street Public Market (296 East Fifth Avenue, Eugene, OR). I've limited the number of images to 25, which will be plenty, especially with the implements 'hanging' out as well and a few other pieces.

October 2007: Game Plan for the next eight months: A portion of this series, specifically the Black and White Track and Field Images, will be exhibited during the 2008 Olympic Track and Field Trails, which are to be held in June 2008 in Eugene, Oregon. Plans are for approximately thirty framed images to be hung as well as a hardware installation of Track and Field equipment and implements, the idea being that it will help give a hands-on perspective to spectators about the events.

October 2007: There was a changing of the guard in the 5th Street Public Market (296 East Fifth Avenue, Eugene, OR), so I felt compelled to make an earlier than planned visit to Eugene to try insuring this installation will happen. I'm very happy to report that the new guard at is every bit as enthused if not more-so!!! I spent time there observing and scheming; the location feels good.

I also stopped by the Eugene Hilton and spoke with my contact; the Hilton is becoming a very athlete/event staging oriented component for the Trials. She and I decided a different location would serve the installation's objective better and was enthusiastic about the 5th Street Public Market.

March 2007: A portion of this series, specifically the Black and White Track and Field Images, will be exhibited during the 2008 Olympic Track and Field Trails, which are to be held in June 2008 in Eugene, Oregon. Plans are for approximately thirty framed images to be hung in the Hilton Eugene and Conference Center (66 East 6th Avenue) and, if space allows, in the 5th Street Public Market (296 East Fifth Avenue). Both areas are considered to be among the hub of activity surrounding the Trials; the hotel will house many of the athletes, support personnel, and spectators, while the Market offers premier shopping in downtown Eugene and is nestled next to the new-redesign-for-the-Trails Nike store.

I have plans as well for a hardware installation of Track and Field equipment and implements to accompany the prints, the idea being that it will help give a hands-on perspective to spectators about the events. While framed pictures can be secured relatively well on walls, what I envision for the hardware really requires a gallery type space that can provide a safe home for the displays. As of now, I have yet to find such an area.....but I'm still looking.
